About

Jane Freear-Wyld lives and weaves her tapestries in Coventry, UK.

It’s the process of weaving that she absolutely loves, watching a design grow and evolve as she weaves the fabric of a tapestry. The creative process begins with a photograph, followed by computer manipulation. That’s always a mystery – how can the click of a button change an image so completely? Colour, texture, shape and pattern are what fascinate her, and the process of transforming a computer printout into a hand woven tapestry.

The themes she often returns to are the Natural World and Reflections, although buildings are often an inspiration too.

She weaves the large tapestries on an upright loom, using a wool weft on a cotton warp. The small format tapestries are woven on a frame using cotton and linen as the weft on a fine cotton warp.
